There’s a story behind every picture.For a photo as delightful as the one that graces our November/December 2016 magazine, it’s a big, hungry story. With Savannah chef and caterer Meta Adler at the helm of the delectable spread, this is the cheese board to shame every other cheese board?but deliciously so.

To craft this lush, nosh-friendly app, we played with a classic wedding rhyme to follow Meta’s guide to getting the full spread exactly right.

Something Old: Meta’s signature cheese-board accouterment is her grandmother’s silver cheese knives. She also has a go-to variety: a double or triple crème such as a Brillat-Savarin.

Something New: Add a fresh twist every time. Here, an antique gilded wood capital created a beautiful base for Meta’s spread, and golden honeycomb paid homage to the nests in the dining room table centerpiece.

Something Borrowed: Do not fear the cheese mongers! They’re there to offer you advice—and to let you sample the flavors.

Something Blue: “I always have a blue cheese on my board,” says Meta. “Period.”
