Weekend on Tybee
THIS PAST WEEKEND we were lucky enough to gain access to a beach house on Tybee Island and hang out with two of our favorite couples. There is something about the drive over the bridges, through the marshes and onto the narrow streets in the sometimes sleepy beach town that lets me throw my cares into the ocean air.
We did all of the stuff we dream of doing while at the beach: We sat on the porch sipping cool drinks; we walked along the sea at sunset; we hit the quirky shops on the strand and also the shops on the North Beach side. We dined at one of the finer restaurants (The Hunter House was our pick) and also at the fun, not-so-fancy ones (Fannie’s, Lighthouse Pizza, Sting Rays, and The Breakfast Club).
What sticks with me as I sit at my desk on this back-to-work Monday is the joy I felt riding my bicycle down 2nd Avenue, how great it was to share lazy coffee mornings in the beach house kitchen with my friends, and the fun the six of us had piling into a jeep to head off to dinner on Saturday night.
When can we do it again?
