When the service sucks
I KNOW THE HEADLINE is a bit caustic, but so was the service. And I have to rant! I don't have to spend my hard-earned money at your restaurant. But I am pretty sure you need me! Please greet me when I walk in. Please come to my table in a reasonable amount of time. Even if you are so busy that you want to SCREAM, just acknowledge me. Let me know you are glad and grateful for my visit and my dollars.
Yesterday I met a dear friend for lunch at a place that is kind of halfway between her Richmond Hill office and mine on Chatham Parkway. We really want it to be our favorite lunch spot. We like the food, a lot.
But there is a surly waitress who always rubs us the wrong way. She rarely greets us with a warm hello. She is slow to wait on us. The last two times, I have had to call her over to get the lunch started. We both work, so we don't have a lot of time to spare. And we are hungry! That's why we go to lunch.
I am a nice person. I am a reasonable woman. I like people and I really respect people in service positions because these are often thankless jobs that require a lot of hard work. I have worked in various service positions in my life and I guess I don't get it when the people placed out front are not friendly.
I am tempted to find a new place to meet my friend for lunch. A competitor is coming to the area soon and chances are we will try it. If we like the food and the service, we may make the change. This saddens me because it doesn't have to be this way.
Yours-
Miss T. J.
Do you have a rant about service? Or is there a place with over-the-top great service you'd like to dish about? Let me know. We'll commiserate.
