Go Tigers!
Patricia and President Dr. Earl G. Yarbrough
IN THE LIGHT of recent happenings at Savannah State University -- there was a shooting last Friday that resulted with one man in the hospital and one in jail -- I wanted to offer some words of hope and support.
I went back to school in January of this year to earn my Master's degree. The school I chose, due to the fact that they have the accredited program in Savannah, is Savannah State University. Since I have been enrolled there, I have always felt safe while on campus. I have also been very pleased with the programs and the faculty. This HBCU (Historically Black College/University) has made me feel like I belong.
As a media person, I have worked with Loretta Heyward and have always found her to be a consummate professional. We have covered a couple events in City Seen about SSU this year. When historic Hill Hall re-opened after 12 years, we joined in the excitement of that celebration. We congratulated Dr. Earl G. Yarbrough Jr. during his inauguration as the 12th president of the university.
As SSU attends to the issues at hand, I offer my support and understanding and I congratulate them for all their achievements.
Yours
Miss T. J.
