A Taste of the Town

Chicken soup for my soul

Posted by Miss T. J. (11-21-2008)

LAST NIGHT I could feel it coming on.

My throat was scratchy, my sinuses were screaming with pressure and my head felt like a balloon ready to pop! There was no-one at home to nurture me except for my dog and she's got that "no-opposable thumb" issue.

I needed a bowl of steaming soup and I needed it right away. I racked my brain for a place to get it and ended up at Saigon Flavors on Waters Avenue where a friend joined me. I ordered the chicken noodle soup, and the gracious server also brought me a plate of sprouts, lime and mint to add to the mix of rice noodles, chicken and clear broth. She also, in her halting English, pointed to two bottles of hot sauce that were on the table and urged me to add them to my huge bowl. I did it.

Can I just say it was pure deliciousness?

And perfect for what ailed me. There was no way I could finish it, but I gave it a really good try.

Next time you need some chicken soup for your soul, or if you just want to try something different, pull into the strip center across from CVS on Waters for some authentic Vietnamese cuisine. They have an amazing selection of really healthy foods.

Oh, and be sure to try the Viet iced coffee. It’s a tasty mix of freshly brewed, super strong java with cream and sugar over ice that’ll get you buzzing!

Yours,
Miss T. J.
