The beef is at Ruth's Chris, in case you are wondering where it is...
TIM AND I were lucky enough to get on the "B" (for BEEF) list last Friday night at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. To celebrate their arrival on Bay Street in downtown Savannah, franchise owners Jeff and Paula Conway welcomed hundreds of Savannahians to sample the fare at their pre-opening event in the restaurant located in News Place At Ellis Square on Friday and Saturday nights.
Smack dab in the heart of the Historic District, we were served up heaping helpings of salads, potatoes, vegetables and, of course, MEAT! One of our tablemates, caterer Cynthia Creighton-Jones, ordered the lambchops and was not disappointed.
I ordered a New York Strip, a side of broiled tomatoes (YUM!) and lyonnaise potatoes. We ordered a giant bread pudding for dessert, but by the time it arrived, we were all pretty satiated. The portions are HUGE, so sharing is essential unless you want to take home leftovers. There is no way you'll finish everything!
The space is beautiful. It used to house the Savannah Morning News and Savannah Magazine, so it was a bittersweet moment. Mostly sweet!
Just when you think Savannah doesn't need another place to eat, you'll wonder how we ever lived without this one!
We were really on the "A" (for amazing) list after all!
If you are wondering, "Who is the handsome young man in the photo above?" --that's Justin, our server. He was outstanding with service and knowledge.
Yours,
Miss T. J.
