This girl just wants to have fun!
I AM POUTING. Like Art Girl said in her blog: "There's a lot to keep track of in this town." I can tell when I've had too much work and no play because I start wanting to do ridiculous stuff -- like go grocery shopping or pull over for yard sales (two things I am not particularly fond of doing).
There are a gazillion fun things going on in our wonderful city and since I can't go, I want to make sure you know about them so I can live vicariously through you!
If I could go, these are the things I would not miss:
* I would go to see Mark Rand and JinHi Soucy Rand perform in their last performance of "The Love Letters" by A. R. Gurney at the Seaboard Freight Station Theatre, 703D Louisville Road at 8 p.m. The dreamer in me is still going to try my best to make it!
*Georgia Days: Feb. 3-14. The events commemorate the 276th anniversary of the founding of our state's colony. I would definitely not miss Super Museum Sunday on Feb. 8 when most of our city's museums are open to the public free of charge. On Feb. 9, I would love to attend the Black History Month Essay and Public Speaking Contest at the Georgia Historical Society. Middle and high school students in the area will compete while focusing their speeches on the Civil Rights Movement. (Yours truly won this type of contest in her hometown of Omro, Wisconsin, and I love to watch other young people participate in this event!)
*I would go to the movies to see "The Reader," "Gran Torino," "Frost/Nixon," and "Revolutionary Road."
Since there are hundreds of art galleries in town, I'll leave those recommendations up to Art Girl, but I'd definitely do some lingering and lusting over local art, too!
Yours,
Miss T. J.
